Advance Descaling Solution - Energizing Equipment Life
Scale formation is a common challenge in the pharmaceutical industry, specifically for the water systems and systems that use water as a utility. Scale is a water contaminant that forms deposits on the contact surfaces over a period. These contaminants are typically a salt of calcium & magnesium (carbonates & sulphates), iron, aluminium & silica. Salts have limited solubility but are not totally insoluble in water.
Impact of Scale formation
Scale formation coats the heat transfer surfaces with the saltās deposition. This scale acts as an insulator that impedes heat transfer resulting in
- Reduced productivity & efficiency of the system,
- Increases energy consumption, and
- Impacts quality of the product & process.
Solution: Descaling
Descaling is a unique process that removes scale formation from the equipment surface using chemicals that effectively disengages the scale. Conventionally, the descaling process involves Alkaline cleaning followed by Acid Cleaning and Final cleaning using different types of chemicals.
Typically, the hot water (PW/WFI) is circulated through the system by adding chemicals for a preset time and flushing with fresh water after every cleaning step. The challenge with the conventional method is that it requires a high quantity of utility, longer process time, and harsh chemicals that affect equipment life over time.
Pharmalab-Borer offers an advanced Descaling solution that ensures a faster process with lesser utility requirements and a gentle process. The Pharmalab-Borer uses deconex formulated solution such as deconex FORMULA 1, deconex CIP acid & deconex CIP fresh.
Advantages of Advanced Descaling Solutions
- Process time reduced to 5-6 hrs against 32-36 hrs in the conventional method
- Low Utility Consumption
- Gentle formulations extending equipment life against Harsh Chemicals used in the conventional method
- Documented process
- Passivated surface post-treatment
