Pharmalab provides the option of electropolishing to all its clients on request. Electropolishing becomes essential when a design requires a metal finish that demands smoothness that cannot be obtained by standard mechanical polishing. A surface can generally be improved to approximately one half the initial surface measurement. Some surfaces obtained by electropolishing can become non-particulating surfaces, i.e. so smooth that the particles cannot be entrapped or adhered to the metal.
In this process iron is removed from the surface of the component while the percentage of chromium or nickel on the material surface is enhance thereby promoting a bright deburred, corrosion resistant passive surface. Electropolishing leaves a beautiful mirror like finish on most components and the polishing stress relieves the surface of the components.

Orbital welding was first used in the 1960s when the aerospace industry recognized the need for a superior joining technique for aerospace hydraulic lines. A mechanism was developed in which the arc from a tungsten electrode was rotated around the tubing weld joint. The arc welding current was regulated with a control system thus automating the entire process. The result was a more precise and reliable method than the manual welding method it replaced.
Modern day orbital welding systems like the one used by Pharmalab, offer computer control where welding parameters for a variety of applications can be stored in memory and called up when needed for a specific project/product. The skills of a certified welder are thus built into the welding system, producing enormous numbers of identical welds and leaving significantly less room for error or defects.
Surface Roughness Testing
The quality of machined surface is characterized by the accuracy of its manufacture with respect to the dimensions specified by the designer. Every machining operation leaves characteristic evidence on the machined surface. This evidence in the form of finely spaced micro irregularities is left by the cutting tool. Each type of cutting tool leaves its own individual pattern, which therefore can be identified. Alternatively, surface finishes imparted by shot blasting, shot peening, Electro Discharge EDT, or other plating operations impart a specific surface finish.
This pattern is known as surface finish or surface roughness and can be measured by a surface profilo-meter machine which quantifies the surface roughness i.e. positive deviation from a datum plane (peak) or negative deviation from a datum plane (valley) as well as peaks per inch.
This machine helps Pharmalab increase the quality in its finished product to match the best international practices and cGMP guidelines.
Boroscopy is the method to inspect any welding joint internally. Video recording during boroscopy helps in documentation of joints inspection from audit point of view. Pharmalab uses this machine in its Quality Control practices to upgrade the quality of its finish and joints.
For each product line, Pharmalab has a dedicated Assembly section, which ensures a higher standard of qualtiy and provides for a central inspection and assembly area.
The assembly area has a large workshop space and facility to erect large machines, test them and to package them for shipment.
